Yes, books and stories are fun, but I do much prefer video games. Of all the franchises, The Legend of Zelda is probably my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Mario, Pokemon and Final Fantasy, but Zelda takes the cake. Both Link and Zelda have been done here before, but it’s a new season so I can do whatever I want. Here’s Link. In this instance, let’s think of him in The Ocarina of Time frame of mind. Link’s actions are often dictated by his clothes. If he’s wearing the Zora (blue) tunic, he can breathe underwater and can walk on the ocean floor if he’s wearing the iron boots. If he’s wearing his normal Kokiri forest manufactured tunic (green), he can’t do anything special. If he’s wearing the fire tunic (red) he can withstand extreme heat. On a related note, some guy that works at the apple store in SoHo has a triforce tattooed on his hand. At first I thought, “wow you’re an idiot,” but then I realized I was jealous. Respect the power of the triforce.

WHAT WOULD PRINCESS ZELDA WEAR?

Princess Zelda is the HBIC of Hyrule. Together with Link, she must protect the kingdom from Ganon, the evil wizard/pig. This time, I decided to focus in on Zelda during The Ocarina of Time which remains to be one of my favorite video games to date. When we first meet Zelda she is young and becomes childhood friends with Link. Naturally, when we travel forward in time, she is older and wiser. She spends half of her adulthood disguised as Sheikh of the Sheikah tribe. When disguised, she helps guide Link in his quest to vanquish evil. Finally, she is revealed as the strong, wise and triforce wielding Princess Zelda. WOOO!!! NINTENDO!!!

ZELDA, THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

I love nintendo, I really do. For many years it replaced friends in my life and to a degree it still does. Also, I look extremely graceful playing the Wii, it’s like a dance. Anyway…the holy grail of Nintendo titles for me has always been the Legend of Zelda. From NES, to gameboy, to SNES, to N64, to Wii and everything in between it’s fucking amazing. The story’s heroine is Zelda, princess of Hyrule. She keeps pretty busy you know, protecting the triforce and helping defeat that jerkoff Ganon. So clearly you’re not dealing with a girl content to wait for some prince to rescue her, she means business.

with yesterday’s zelda post, i figured today would be a good day for link. link is the hero of the legend of zelda, whether it’s ocarina of time, the wind fish egg, a link to the past, majora’s mask, twilight princess, wind waker or any of the other ones that have sucked my life away. anyway, link has three different tunics that give him different abilities. the first is the green tunic—your standard ensemble for hanging around hyrule market or kokiri forest. the red tunic protects him from fire and the blue tunic allows him to breathe underwater (best used with iron boots). basically, the legend of zelda is awesome and now that i’ve been blogging about it for two days…i may just have to start playing again.

this one might be a bit of a stretch, but indulge me. so when i was a kid, i think i spent a good part of my time playing the legend of zelda. aside from being one of the best game series of all time, it had a pretty decent story. wind fishes, temples of time, crazy mountain trolls, all sorts of things. the princess zelda was a key part of the story (duh) and she often helped the adventurer, link in his quest. she was also one of three who could wield a piece of the tri-force in the ocarina of time. not making any sense? wikipedia it. enjoy.
