The Mr Porter London Collections are up today. It’s all exclusive product by four major London designers including Richard Nicoll (above), Katie Eary, Matthew Miller and Sibling. I don’t know why I want this, but it reminds me of this wall I saw in this video once.

It’s a rainy, kind of weird Saturday so I took to the interwebs and visited some of my old retail friends. As per usual, I floated over to Jack Spade who I’ve sorely neglected these past few weeks since I started the new job. Of course, now that I no longer enjoy an employee discount, it’s not so easy to grab a few things here and there. Nevertheless, look at this stuff…at long last Aaron Levine’s (formerly of Rogues Gallery) product has hit the store and if I weren’t moving in a week, I’d blow every last cent on it. Of course it should be noted that the leather goods and bags are the work of their talented bag designer, Britt Kleinman. She owns.

KING HENRY VIII, ENGLAND

What do you get the man that has everything? A wife, and after that, another! It’s everybody’s favorite royal heretic, King Henry VIII! You may remember him from such classes as World History I and AP European history. King Henry was most famous for his failed marriages, first to the Catholic Catherine of Aragon, then to Anne Boleyn, then to Jane Seymour, then to Anne of Cleves, then Catherine Howard and finally to Catherine Parr. Oh what craziness. You might ask, how could one have all of these different wives? Death helped a little bit, but Henry also famously broke from the Vatican and became head of the church. Basically, he could do whatever he wanted. Steez.

SWEENEY TODD, SWEENEY TODD

A long time ago I said I was going to start doing more menswear posts. I haven’t really lived up to that, so here’s my way of making it up to you. Recently I found a new place to get much better images of menswear so the quality issue I was having is fixed, huzzah. Over the weekend somebody left a message in my ask box to do Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd. I love the story and can’t believe I didn’t think of it before. For those who need a refresh—Sweeney Todd is the story of Benjamin Barker the barber and his twisted revenge lust. After a wicked judge’s eye falls on his wife and he is banished for crimes he didn’t commit, he returns to London to get his life back. As fate would have it, his shop is now above Mrs. Lovett’s meat pies. Mrs. Lovett welcomes him back and informs him of his wife’s death at the hands of the evil judge and the whereabouts of . Long story short—lots of people die when they go to get a shave. Awesome.

SLEEPING BEAUTY, YET AGAIN

Oh look, it’s Sleeping Beauty again…hooray! As I’ve mentioned before, the original fairy tale has the princess growing up in the castle and wandering the towers to find a spindle. Of course, since her father had banned all spinning wheels and spindles, she’s never seen one and is curious. BAM! MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN! One of the good fairies, who already lessened the curse from death to a true love kiss sleep comes and blankets the castle and court in thorns for protection. A really long time later, Prince John comes to the mythical forest and makes his way to the princess. They kiss and get married and have babies. When he is crowned king, he brings the princess to join him and his mother. When away fighting a crazy war, his mother orders the young family to a secluded cottage so she can cook and eat them. Really long story short, Prince John saves the day and the mother drowns in a pot of snakes and acid or something. Yaaay! Disney!
