GILDED AGE, FALL 2011

So I may have covered this already but I used to intern for Gilded Age. I can tell you that the quality of these clothes is near unparalleled. Having said that, I’ve been keeping a close eye on what my old boss has been up to and when I finally got a chance to scope this out, I was thrilled. It’s a great evolution of where the brand has been and owns the American Trad more than anything I’ve seen in a while. I was particularly impressed by the outerwear, there seems to be a lot more thought put into it this fall than last. I won’t get to into the womenswear but it was a great compliment to the men’s pieces, I’d say it straddles the line of Opening Ceremony and J.Crew…weird. Good show.

IFB CONFERENCE
Yo, I’m moderating a panel today at the IFB conference. You should probably check out the live-stream, lots of good info there today. Cool, it’s streaming here.
Also, I’ve got a sweet post over at Fashionista going up soon. Just a heads up.
i only requested one invitation for fashion week this season and it was michael bastian. their pr team was kind enough to squeeze me in last minute and i was all but too happy to attend. if you’ve been reading this blog for a while then you know of my dedication to this designer. the a/w 2010 show was a well executed image of the michael bastian brand. among early favorites for myself are the fair isle sweaters, the fortune cookie scarf, a leather jacket to rival my own and a nicely trimmed overcoat (shown with boxers), the sunglasses and the vests. among other pieces there were brightly colored trousers and blazers, the sort of thing one longs to pull off but rarely can. unfortunately, i wasn’t able to record mr. bastian’s appearance after the finale but i can assure you there was uproarious response from the likes of linda fargo, jim moore, hamish bowles, john malkovich, brad goreski, rafe totengco, peter som, adam rappaport…are you getting how much the world loves mb?
also, i live tweeted like crazy.
