Whenever anybody mentions The Great Gatsby and style, they almost immediately bring up Daisy Buchanan. She’s an obvious point to bring up. Fitzgerald paints her as an angelic, ideal, beautiful woman who has captured Gatsby’s heart for years. But, she turns out to be a terrible person, and I can never really be on Team Daisy. The outsides don’t always reflect the insides. Jordan Baker, her friend, isn’t exactly a saint either but at least she seems more logical, sane and calm. She’s sporty, in contrast to Daisy’s more girly, ethereal personality. I’d say she’s Nick Carraway’s 2nd best friend to Gatsby. Although she does little to diffuse the awkward situations in the book, I always thought she was a somewhat decent person.
