MAX, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

So what happens to the kid who spends his dreams where the wild things are? He grows up to wear Junya Watanabe, duh. We all know the book and some of us enjoyed the movie, although, I don’t count myself one of those that enjoyed the film. After being punished for running around the house in his wolf costume, he imagines a world entirely separate from his bedroom and comes across the wild things. The wild things crown him the king after he stares them down and they dance all night long (all night lonngggg, all niggghtt). Soon though, Max misses his home and is back in his room. You know any kid that can pull off a wolf costume and be crowned king of the wild things would have some sick style and would wear his favorite jeans and sneakers over and over. Right brain for the win.

GILDED AGE, FALL 2011

So I may have covered this already but I used to intern for Gilded Age. I can tell you that the quality of these clothes is near unparalleled. Having said that, I’ve been keeping a close eye on what my old boss has been up to and when I finally got a chance to scope this out, I was thrilled. It’s a great evolution of where the brand has been and owns the American Trad more than anything I’ve seen in a while. I was particularly impressed by the outerwear, there seems to be a lot more thought put into it this fall than last. I won’t get to into the womenswear but it was a great compliment to the men’s pieces, I’d say it straddles the line of Opening Ceremony and J.Crew…weird. Good show.

HOLDEN CAULFIELD

Good Monday morning to you all. Holden Caulfield was the very first post I ever did on Textbook. Somewhere down the line it got added into my tag line and now it’s kind of a thing. I haven’t styled him since the original post on 9/1/09 so here we go again. For those of you who don’t have a solid idea of who Mr. Caulfield is, I encourage you to read The Catcher in the Rye and get wise. But for our purposes, just imagine he is a bitter Upper East Side 16 year old aching to get out of his poor little rich boy life. What up #WHITEBOYPROBLEMS.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Don’t judge me if I post a bunch of pictures from my holiday later.

with yesterday’s zelda post, i figured today would be a good day for link. link is the hero of the legend of zelda, whether it’s ocarina of time, the wind fish egg, a link to the past, majora’s mask, twilight princess, wind waker or any of the other ones that have sucked my life away. anyway, link has three different tunics that give him different abilities. the first is the green tunic—your standard ensemble for hanging around hyrule market or kokiri forest. the red tunic protects him from fire and the blue tunic allows him to breathe underwater (best used with iron boots). basically, the legend of zelda is awesome and now that i’ve been blogging about it for two days…i may just have to start playing again.
