do you enjoy blanketing far away lands in an endless winter? are you curiously aligning with dogs and against cats? do you turn people to stone with your creepy scepter? well…if you’ve answered yes to all these, you’d probably get along with the white witch. she’s quite a nasty ho and until the pevensie kids came along to destroy her reign there wasn’t much anybody had done about it. gotta hand it to her though, there’s something so badass about keeping narnia in a frozen haze.  brrrr.

continuing on with bram stoker’s dracula, may i present lucy westerna. lucy was mina’s best friend. she was the beautiful, angelic 19 year old daughter of an aristocratic family. she is loved by three suitors, all who propose to her on the same day but her health quickly and mysteriously deteriorates. one of her suitors calls his friend, dr. van helsing to remedy her illness. they soon learn that dracula has been draining lucy’s blood and unfortunately, it’s too late. soon after she is buried, children in town begin disappearing and several report seeing a “bloofer” (read: beautiful) woman walking the streets. that bloofer is lucy’s damned vampire self. dracula had doomed her to vampirism and it is up to van helsing and the men who loved her to set her soul free. rather gruesomely, they destroy the vampire and free lucy’s soul. that’s some heavy shit.1: a visit from mina: dress by erin fetherston, shoes by valentino2: i feel sick: dress by christian dior, tight things by rodarte, shoes by dvf3: the bloofer lady: rodarteAll images from Style.com.

is it so wrong to want the finer things in life? emma bovary didn’t think so, in fact she thought she was entitled to them. emma was a farmer’s daughter who married his doctor, she quickly became bored with marriage and provincial life. emma was sure that by acquiring the finer things, she would be content. she was so consumed by her fascination that she ran up a riotous debt, had two affairs and eventually committed suicide. the saddest part of the whole thing is that emma thought all the fortune, the aristocracy, the opera, the parties and the fancy things would bring her happiness. she failed to realize that all of these things often bring misery and that in the end, nobody is really any better off than anybody else. when all her debts and the schemes of her jerk banker caught up to her, she swallowed some arsenic in typical emma bovary melodramatic fashion. all that said, she still is somehow likable.1: oh, i’m just the farmer’s daughter: dress by tory burch, shoes by derek lam, bag by marc by marc jacobs, hat by erin fetherston2: hopping to paris with my lover: dress and bag by christian dior, hat by marc jacobs, shoes by calvin klein3: i totally can’t afford this dress: dress by oscar de la renta, shoes by christian diorAll images from Style.com.

sara crewe of a little princess had a tough life. when she was just a child in finishing school she learned of her father’s death. to add insult to injury, their great fortune was lost by a friend who invested unwisely. left penniless and all by herself she becomes a servant to her boarding school and the wretched miss. minchin. the story holds that she finds comfort for years by imagining herself as a princess (essentially her old self). as luck would have it for sara, her father’s friend who lost all their money regained the fortune and by happy coincidence moves in across the street from her school. the story unfolds and the two are united. sara has a new guardian who restores her previous life (minus her father) and disgraces the greedy miss minchin. if i’ve learned one thing working in the fashion industry it’s that those that have wild imaginations tend to have the best style and for those that think they’re princesses it goes double. so imagine if ms. crewe grew older, a princess in her own right with a limitless checkbook? jealous? yah you are.1: top by erin fetherston, skirt by luisa beccaria, shoes by reem acra2: dress by lela rose, trench by burberry prorsum, shoes by hermes, bag by chanel3: dress by oscar de la renta, necklace by reem acra, shoes by michael kors

when thinking of romeo and juliet i often forget how young they were. once the whole story plays out she is barely a teenager and even her father considers marriage proposals from “the valiant paris” too hasty. however, i need not get in to the details of this story for we all know it very well. instead, consider a fourteen year old’s take on the clothing. it’s one of those ages where everything can be so fun, bright colors, quirky silhouettes and basically anything goes. now, juliet is a capulet which probably means she wanted for very little in her life. and if the heiresses and socialite daughters of today teach us anything, it’s that they each have loveable style all their own (thinking more of lydia hearst and byrdie bell types not hiltons or lohans). so without further delay, i give you juliet capulet…a charming young woman of verona.1: party at capulet mansion: dress by reem acra, bow by luella, bag by marc by marc jacobs, shoes by dvf2: marrying romeo in secret: dress, bag and clogs by chanel, bow by erin fetherston3: off to see friar laurence: shirt by devi kroell, skirt by burberry prorsum, coat and bag by luella, clogs by chanel, hat by isaac mizrahi
