somebody had requested some posts from a midsummer night’s dream…so here we go. first up is titania, queen of the fairies. if you went to high school in america, you probably know the story so i’ll keep it short. titania is fighting with her husband oberon over a young boy she has adopted, he wants to use him as a soldier in his crew. meanwhile, four mortals from athens are running through the forest and whilst scheming to shame titania, oberon decides to mess with them too. of course, there are hilarious consequences. oh shakespeare. read it.

continuing on with bram stoker’s dracula, may i present lucy westerna. lucy was mina’s best friend. she was the beautiful, angelic 19 year old daughter of an aristocratic family. she is loved by three suitors, all who propose to her on the same day but her health quickly and mysteriously deteriorates. one of her suitors calls his friend, dr. van helsing to remedy her illness. they soon learn that dracula has been draining lucy’s blood and unfortunately, it’s too late. soon after she is buried, children in town begin disappearing and several report seeing a “bloofer” (read: beautiful) woman walking the streets. that bloofer is lucy’s damned vampire self. dracula had doomed her to vampirism and it is up to van helsing and the men who loved her to set her soul free. rather gruesomely, they destroy the vampire and free lucy’s soul. that’s some heavy shit.

penelope had a pretty tough break in greek mythology. her beloved husband left to fight in troy just after their son telemachus was born. after that was over, odysseus was punished by poseiden to wander the seas. while he was busy trying to find his way home, it was left to penelope to run their kingdom in ithaca. she did a damn good job and managed to fend off suitors and would usurpers. penelope never gave up hope that odysseus would return and trust, when he did…he and penelope kicked some ass. give it up for penelope. she’s awesome.

breaking from the pop-up travel blogging—so for the past few days i’ve been vacationing in anguilla. thus, i’m in a very summer breezy state of mind. jumping off the circe post and drawing on my surroundings i decided to post on calypso. now, before disney ruined the image of calypso with pirates of the caribbean, she existed as a greek sea nymph. she was most known for her role in the odyssey where she imprisoned odysseus on her island. eventually, of course, odysseus was set free to return home to ithaca. of course, for island living you’re gonna look to flowy and colorful stylings.
