everybody loves matilda. it’s a great story and probably all children in america have read the book. also, who wouldn’t want her awesome super powers? for those of you who need a refresh, matilda was a young girl who loved books. as soon as she was able, she read everything possible in the library-partly to learn and partly as an escape from her wretched family. eventually, she went to school where she met the encouraging ms. honey and the dreaded trunchbull. as you might expect, many adventures ensued mostly involving freeing the school of the trunchbull’s tyrannous reign via matilda’s ability to move objects with her mind. all ends well and matilda ends up finding a loving mother in ms. honey. given her exceptional intelligence i think if matilda were older, she’d rock that tweed/collegiate/librarian look pretty well.1: off to school: dress by cynthia steffe, coat by dkny, socks and shoes by marni2: fancy matilda!: marc jacobs3: afternoon in the library: sweatshirt by marc jacobs, skirt by aquilano.rimondi, shoes and socks by salvatore ferragamoAll images from Style.com.

it’s everybody’s favorite little rich girl, veruca salt. if you’re familiar with the book and the willie wonka films, then you know she is the epitome of spoiled brat. in fact, state of the art wonka equipment determines she is a “bad egg” and sends her down to the garbage after this (i recommend clicking if you’re not familiar) little rant. her father had a nasty habit of following every demand she made, so there’s no telling what a penchant for fashion would do. i’d imagine she’d just point, command and purchase…brat.1: i want a golden goose: dress by dolce and gabbana, tights and shoes by bottega veneta, bag by dolce and gabbana2: give it to me now!: dress by phillip lim 3.1, fur by derek lam, tights and shoes by dkny, bag by hermes (birkin, naturally)3: don’t care how, i want it now: dress by tory burch, shoes and socks by brian reyes, bag by louis vuitton

phoebe caulfield is a strong part of her brother holden’s life. she represents the innocent type that he so longs to protect from the world. she, in her youth and demeanor is the catch the catcher in the rye is trying to save…if that makes any sense. phoebe is portrayed as a wise and mature kid. you can tell she’d be one of those completely cool characters and very little in life would rattle her. upon growing older, i’m willing to bet she’d sort of steer clear of the fashion scene and would be a roll with the punches type. the collegiate vibe going on this fall would suit her quite well.1: dress by dkny, coat by cynthia steffe, shoes and socks by karen walker2: blazer and cardigan by rag and bone, shirt by peter jensen, skirt by dkny, hat by dvf, boots by erin fetherston3: jacket by dkny, dress by erin fetherston, shoes by peter jensen
