TITANIA (AGAIN)

I know I posted Titania quite recently, but Spring is so much more appropriate for this bitch. As any American high school student knows, Titania was the fairy queen from Will Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play focuses on four Athenians wandering the forest and in true Shakespeare style is riddled with mistaken identities and humor. Titania is battling her husband Oberon over a foundling child and she falls victim to a few of Oberon’s tricks. Long story short, everybody ends up happy. She’d be way happier if she dressed like this though, right?

ALICE IS WONDERLAND

Alice was actually one of the first posts I ever put up. Can you blame me? I won’t bore you guys with all the details because everybody knows the story. Also, and I’ve said this before, everybody in art school or fashion school uses this story as inspiration at some point. Anyways, y’all enjoy Alice.

presenting the original vampire, count motherfucking dracula. unlike other vampires i might mention, he doesn’t sparkle. he doesn’t hate werewolves, he commands them. he can shape shift into anything and change the weather. he lives with three vampire brides in his castle and wants to take over the world.
don’t mess with count dracula, he’ll bite you. in all seriousness, i’m begging you to read the original by bram stoker…it’s so damn good.

after the last couture season, i started seeing parallels between pokemon and some of the pieces on the runway-check the post. the resemblances were pretty striking, particularly the givenchy jigglypuff ensemble. anyway, now that fall 2010 couture has ended i present to you the pokemon couture.
couture, i choose you!
1: givenchy and mewtwo: pretty much all of givenchy reminded me of mewtwo and mew. the bone detailing and silhouettes scream legendary and scientifically bred pokemon.
2: valentino and gastly: i hate the ghost pokemon but the tulle layer over this dress reminded me of gastly right away. the model’s eyes look similar to his too. wierd.
3: elie saab and charizard: the bat wing sleeves and print made this an easy choice. charizarrrrddd
4: chanel and bulbasaur: karl lagerfeld skinned an ivysaur and made a dress. boom.
5: christian dior and vileplume: the floral collection galliano sent out had plenty of pokemon references (particularly grass pokemon, duh) but this violet and magenta number shouted vileplume like none other.
till next couture season.
sidenote: i stick with the original 151 pokemon, old school.
