1: chanel spring 2010 couture shoes: queue cheesy “i bet you can see yourself in these shoes” double entendre
christian dior haute couture s/s 2010
thoughts: in 1947 when dior created “the new look” (#3 above) of a cinched waist and flowing skirt, history was made. it was one of the few watershed moments in fashion that has lasted a lifetime. today, galliano’s couture show paid homage to the house with an ethereal and undeniably dior collection. i feel the mark of an incredible designer, brand, whatever you want to call it is that from one season to another there is an evolution not a departure. the haute couture show is far evolved from the famous 1947 look and retains the incredible history, thought and femininity of the house. one of my favorites and one of the reasons i work and love fashion…pray be upstanding for christian dior and “the new look”
i encourage you to see the whole collection and check out the equestrian inspired looks…i just preferred these.
it is a dark day for couture. on the heels of my previous post, talking about how awesome lacroix is and how i enjoyed my time working in their showrooms, i am faced with this cruel reality. couture and ready to wear will end and the house will be reduced to a licensing operation. what a cruel world it is.
