    ARYA STARK, GAME OF THRONES

Today, I’m continuing my adoration ofGame of Throneswith another character from the North. Arya Stark is Ned Stark’s youngest daughter and stands in stark contrast to his eldest, Sansa. Sansa is preoccupied with her girlish pursuites whereas tomboy Arya is more interested in swordplay and fighting. Her father encourages this and is very proud of her enthusiasm for warfare, he being a soldier himself. At the end of season one/book one, Arya is heading North for The Wall with the late King’s bastard son and has slowly started to develop a blood lust. Arya, not one to be trifled with.

WHAT WOULD CLAUDIA THE FOREVER-CHILD-VAMPIRE WEAR?

So, knowing how big of a fan of Twilight I am, this post has been a long time coming. Like Bram Stoker’s vampires, Anne Rice’s are pretty badass. One of the the most interesting is Claudia. Unlike the rest of her kind, Claudia was made a vampire before she was an adult which leaves her to be a child for eternity. At first, that’s cool and her vampire fathers Lestat and Louis spoil her to no end. She ensnares her prey by being an angelic young child, often lost or in need. She murders at will and without care, ugh, kids. As decades wear on, Claudia becomes frustrated that she’ll never experience life as an adult. Her frustration turns to blind rage and she murders Lestat (but he don’t die!) and she and Louis flee to Europe to find more about their vampire roots. In Paris, the pair revel in culture and the arts before finding a troupe of vampires who pretend to be humans who pretend to be vampires to trick their prey. After it is revealed that Louis and Claudia killed Lestat, the theatrical vampires condemn Claudia to death by sunshine. I hate sunshine too. For those concerned for Louis, he lives, but is forever haunted by the death of Claudia. Try to keep in mind what a spoiled child with really good taste would wear…

    WHAT WOULD PRINCESS ZELDA WEAR?

    Princess Zelda

Princess Zelda is the HBIC of Hyrule. Together with Link, she must protect the kingdom from Ganon, the evil wizard/pig. This time, I decided to focus in on Zelda during The Ocarina of Time which remains to be one of my favorite video games to date. When we first meet Zelda she is young and becomes childhood friends with Link. Naturally, when we travel forward in time, she is older and wiser. She spends half of her adulthood disguised as Sheikh of the Sheikah tribe. When disguised, she helps guide Link in his quest to vanquish evil. Finally, she is revealed as the strong, wise and triforce wielding Princess Zelda. WOOO!!! NINTENDO!!!

I’m breaking from regularly scheduled programming to share this with you all. One of my very best friends Jason teaches a few 5th graders. He, being the pal that he is, shares my blog with them which I find both honoring and hysterical. One of his students drew these and asked that he show them to me.
Let’s give the student her due. Clearly, they have a knack for drawing tech flats—a highly sought after skill.
#1. Lanvin Esque, let’s take a look here—1 shouldered, possibly draped, very remiscent of Alber’s jewel tone looks.
#2. Simple, definitely an LBD vibe going on. The shape is very Valentino (the new Valentino that is) or Prada when she’s feeling minimal.
#3. This ensemble is definitely a doozie, more 90’s throwback than any of the others. I could see some Jil Sander or maybe even Miu Miu (Spring 2011) in the skirt and as far as the top goes…I’m not quite sure but it has kind of a Betsey Johnson vibe happening.
#4. This looks like it’s got several layers fabric happening, possibly different materials…has potential for a sort of Meadham Kirchoff vibe, no?
#5. Some 80’s throwback here, possibly a nod to Marc by Marc or if in polka dots Marc Jacobs collection. Maybe even a little Mary Katrantzou in that structured sleeve.
#6. Wrap dress? The fifth grader knows their Diane Von Furstenberg
#7. With that neckline and what looks like some body cutouts I’m thinking Versace, Christopher Kane (Spring 2011) or maybe even some Balmain action.
#8. Colorblocking galore on this piece, very Prabal Gurung/Thakoon.
My grade for this assignment? A+.
Textbook has lead to some great things—fashion shows, a couple random projects and a lot of new people but I gotta say…this is the best so far. View high resolution

    LYDIA BENNET, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

    Lydia Bennet, Pride and Prejudice
What’s an Elizabeth Bennet post without one of her sisters? Let’s look at Lydia, the flirtatious frivolous one, the carefree one, the one who like just doesn’t care about anything. Her behavior puts her family’s reputation in jeopardy along with her own well-being. After running away with the villainous Mr. Wickham and he is bribed to marry her, she considers it a fine marriage. I don’t know, Lydia’s just a bit of an airhead. I know a lot of girls like Lydia and sooner or later things catch up with them and they go crazy. But it’s always fun to watch.
