so long gap cheer ads and merry christmas to all. incidentally, the winner of the giveaway will be announced soon and more posts to come.
on the eighth day of christmas my true love gave to me, eight maids-a-milking. picking up where i left off with the twelve days of christmas, may i present maids-a-milking. now it’s my experience (more than you probably think) that farmhands don’t sweat the details. it’s not really about form, more function and utility. that being said, i’d be remiss if i threw up 3 ladies in overalls and sweatshirts. i browsed the collections for some pastoral influences starting with alexander mcqueen fall 08 (one of my favorites of all time) and then bouncing around to chloe, rachel comey and some others. what comes out of it is a haphazardly stylish milk maid. boom. once again, happy holidays.
1: what you don’t wear this to milk your cows?: dress by marni, cloak by chloe, tights and shoes by rachel comey
2: going to the barn dance, i hope nobody else is wearing this $15,000 mcqueen number: dress by alexander mcqueen, shoes by givenchy
3: heading to the hootenany: coat by burberry prorsum, dress by chloe, shoes by dries van noten
on the ninth day of christmas my true love gave to me, nine ladies dancing. so continuing with the 12 days of christmas (of which i started at 10, big whoop) i give you 3 looks for dancing holiday ladies. one of the greatest things about this season is the parties. the best ones are usually filled with really old friends who know pretty much everything about you. thus, you can dance like a crazy person and drink too much wine and eat too many cookies without feeling weird. so i took a gander through the collections and here you have three super fun party looks for all the dancing ladies out there. trouble is there are ten lords-a-leaping…somebody is going home alone. wop wop. happy holidays!
1: i hope they play single ladies: coat by isaac mizrahi, dress by matthew williamson, tights and shoes by marni
2: i’m going to drink so much egg nog it’s not even funny: coat by temperley london, dress by luella, bow necklace by kate spade, tights and shoes by milly
3: look how fancy i am: coat by christian dior, dress by christian lacroix, booties by isabel marant
on the tenth day of christmas my true love gave to me, ten lords-a-leaping. as we draw nearer to the holidays i can’t help but reflect on how they have changed over the years. once upon a time it was all about lego castles and basically all about me. now that i’m older it’s obvious that it isn’t as important as it once was and is more a time for rest and family visiting. these days when i think of christmas it’s very nostalgic, ski lodges, spiced wine, butter rum, goose dinners and lots and lots of peppermint flavoring. so for the ten lords of leaping i drew a lot of inspiration from those olden times when skis were wood, people put candles on trees and strung popcorn garland instead of tinsel. happy holidays everybody!
