Since it’s the holidays, although I can’t be sure because of the unseasonable warmth, let’s take a look at Ebenezer Scrooge. He’s not a character I’ve ever considered before, which is odd because A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite stories. So when Calvin Klein asked me to interpret a 2012 version using their collection, I jumped at the challenge.
Most will recall Scrooge as a grumpy businessman who despises the holidays, always ready with a “bah humbug” for any well-wisher, charitable soul or. Of course on Christmas Eve his ghosts catch up with him after a warning from his deceased business associate, Jacob Marley whose selfish ways earned him a wretched afterlife. The ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come show Scrooge Christmas in a new light. The ghost of Christmas yet to come, the most terrifying, gives Scrooge a preview of his grave and he finally repents his ways. Shocked and frightened, he awakes a changed man spreading the holiday spirit wherever he goes—from what little family he has left to the family of his mistreated employee, Bob Cratchit.
So the next time you’re feeling over the holidays, just remember that you probably once enjoyed them and if you remain selfish, you’ll get what’s coming to you in this life or the next. All piece from this modern take on Scrooge are from Calvin Klein and you can shop similar below. Just clickity click.

Hey you know that crazy spinster who wears the same clothes every day? That’s actually Miss Havisham from Great Expectations and it’s her wedding dress. Once jilted and swindled out of her fortune by the man she loved, she grew into a bitter old woman. She raised Estella to be distrustful of men and to manipulate them. When Pip, the protaginist, came into her midst, she had Estella test her tricks on him. She also only wore one shoe, which I probably could’ve photoshopped above but IDGAF.
1. He fucked with my money

2. I’m crazy

3. Estella, you should completely destroy Pip

    ESTELLA HAVISHAM, GREAT EXPECTATIONS

    Estella Havisham
Following up on the Ms. Havisham post from the days of yore, here is her adopted daughter Estella. I don’t really know what to make of Estella. As a man, I hate her for how she treated Pip and his peers. However, she was raised to torture men and was essentially a pawn in Ms. Havisham’s plot for revenge. You almost have to pity her, she was doomed from the get-go. On a more humorous note, when considering this post I thought she’d have to be everything that The Man Repeller is not. Having been raised to win men’s hearts only to leave their love unrequited is not an easy task. In the words of The Man Repeller this work would require “Man Getter” style clothing.

    1. Hello, Pip.

    2. Marrying for Money

    3. Heartbreaker (to the tune of Pat Benatar)

    MISS HAVISHAM, GREAT EXPECTATIONS

    Miss Havisham
Hey look, it’s everybody’s favorite spinster! Yesterday I finally looked at the Prabal Gurung fall 2011 collection and read it was inspired by Miss Havisham. For me, the inspiration rang true, lots of romantic cuts and a little bit of drama…very Dickensian and Havishamian. For those of you who haven’t read this book in your high school curriculum, allow me to enlighten you. Miss Havisham is a middle aged woman who grew up wealthy and when she was younger, she was left at the altar by the man she loved. That man was only after her fortune. Oh no, drama. After learning this news, she goes bonkers and freezes her life at the moment she found out—clocks stopped, wedding dress forever and one shoe on for the rest of her days. She then adopts a daughter and eventually raises her with the hopes she will destroy men’s lives to seek revenge. Charming. She’s not the main character of the story but she’s certainly a hoot.

    1. This old thing?

Oh also, this is partly inspired by Darklamb who suggested I do a post on Estella.
