    collegedouchebag:

PARSONS
Home of: the “Fashion Week” Douche   Affectations: Chain-smoking over a sewing machine until the early morning; shit-talking “commercial” designers that you will most likely end up assisting for the next five years; rolling up to sewing class in shoes from a designer you probably haven’t heard of to make some clothes you’d never want to wear (pirate-themed menswear anyone?); whining about how Alexander Wang is so expensive you can barely afford Ramen; hanging outside trim stores in the garment district; replying to any e-mail sent in the month of August with, “I mean, like, can we start our collection, like, after fashion week?”; being extremely possessive of pin cushions.
Favorite Pickup Line: That cross-stitching is reminiscent of Tsumori Chisato
Pet Peeve: When someone asks if you went to FIT.
— John Jannuzzi, Class of 2009 (drop-out)

A little mid-fashion week treat for the kids. Hope everybody is staying alive. Ahh ahh ahhh ahhh stayin’ alive.

WAY TO GO TUMBLR, YOU POSTED MY IMAGE FROM SOME TUESDAY AGO…HEY, IT’S SUNDAY. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.oh look, it’s arwen from lord of the rings! how joyful a morning this is. last night i had a rather involved conversation with a friend about which region of middle earth would have the best fashion week. the choices we came up with were the shire, gondor, mordor, rivendell and edoras. so naturally when i woke up this morning i figured i’d post on arwen. for those who aren’t familiar with the series, arwen is an elven princess. elves are the most beautiful beings in middle earth, appropriately played by liv tyler, cate blanchett and orlando bloom in the peter jackson movies. she plays a big role in the destruction of the ring and salvation of middle earth and all ends well for her when she marries aragorn and becomes queen of gondor. that’s the short version, read the book.1: taking a stroll around rivendell: dress by erdem, shoes by alexander wang2: visiting galadriel in lorien: dress by christopher kane, shoes by donna karan3: w00t! i’m the queen: dress by rodarte, shoes by erdem
also, if you feel like spreading some tumblr tuesday cheer…go on and recommend. take care now.All images from Vogue. View high resolution

as mentioned earlier, this is christina from christina’s world. i’ve always been a fan of this painting because it makes me want to run around in a big old field. my grandparents used to keep a farm upstate with lots of space similar to this, there were toboggans in the winter and plenty of field frolicking in the spring and summer. christina probably isn’t the type to care too much about what she wears, she just needs it to be simple for hanging around the farm. think pastoral, think ralph lauren easy breezy dressing…a country hipster if you will…
1: in the field: dress by ralph lauren, shoes by phillip lim2: why, i do declare: dress by michael van der ham, shoes by ralph lauren3: this is my world, be about it: dress by band of outsiders, shoes by alexander wang
thanks to anne from holier than now for the suggestion! do you have one? tell me.
you’ll also notice the images are a lot more high res so click through for full glorious resolution. thank you vogue.com.All images from Vogue. View high resolution

my first brush with lady marmalade was actually in a children’s movie.  you may recall a rather well directed scene in beethoven, where the idiot youngest daughter falls into the pool.  rice, and her brother (name forgotten) fail to notice this near drowning incident because their insane babysitter is belting out lady marmalade and playing it on the piano.  what. the. fuck.  anyway, it was rather hilarious.  of course most of my generation became familiar with her through moulin rouge and the mya, pink, christina, lil kim situation.  enough of that though, when it comes down to it…’creole lady marmalade’ was a hooker on the streets of new orleans, how quaint.  anybody knows to be a good hooker these days you have to keep it interesting.  and i must say, jean paul gaultier really designs well for the whore who knows the art of hooking.  so this post is a little heavy on the gaultier, but that isn’t a crime.  she also looks shockingly like lady gaga.  not surprising, they both sex it up but keep it interesting and somehow classy, unlike some others.1: struttin’ her stuff on the streets: body suit & cape by jean paul gaultier haute couture, shoes by valentino2: hey joe, wanna give it a go?: body suit by alexander wang, tights and shoes by jean paul gaultier, fur by jean paul gaultier haute couture3: seeing her skin feel silky smooth: robe dress thing by jean paul gaultier haute couture
