on the whiny and cynical blogger(s)
with fashion weeks in full swing and couture just gearing up, blogs are ramping up the posts. you’ve seen it here on my own and i’m sure other places. of course with fashion week comes inevitable cyber drama that several years ago didn’t exist. yesterday there was an uproar over tavi gevinson’s headpiece, whining about how bryanboy’s parents weren’t rich enough to send him to paris (weird, because you did a post where you treated yourself to balenciaga…weird) and masses of cynical tweets describing couture as unimpressive. i’m willing to bet that they’re expecting wild silhouettes and avant-garde pieces. that’s understandable but there is so much more to couture than that…the process, the detailing and the make are what elevates it above ready to wear. i don’t want to hear unsupported opinions and certainly don’t want to see whining on blogs. there’s a fine line between pure crap and well articulated critique, consult cathy horyn on that. in the meantime, man the fuck up kids.
1: there’s no crying in baseball (thanks grandpa) and there’s certainly no fucking crying in fashion
*not saying i’ve never whined before but i’m done. life’s too fucking short to bitch and moan. and yes i know this may be construed as whining.
