jewelry giveaway numero uno. unfortunately, this is for tumblr users only. the next two giveaways will incorporate everybody but i felt the need to call out to my tumbling followers and friends. so the whole point of this blog is to style historical and literary (sometimes musical) personalities. as such, re-blog this post and add one of the below…do be sure that it is obvious how to e-mail you should you be the winner (include in re-blog or make sure it is clearly visible on your tumblr)
1: who in history or literature you could see wearing this and brief brief reasoning behind it
2: how you would wear this piece.
i want to make sure that wherever this ends up it will be used properly, needs to have a good home. also, some questions have been raised about the necklace. rest assured it is indeed a kate spade new york necklace and is brand new, never used and has a logo stamp on the clasp. it is also one of kind, not another one like it in the whole wide world, aren’t you lucky? good luck! She dared to conquer social norms and defied her family by saving a white man, whom she hardly knew, at what historians believe to be a young age (she was between twelve and fourteen or something, right?). Some historians still exhibit doubt that this happened. She has been an unsung heroine and a forgotten princess. Maybe she never saved John Smith. Maybe she never saved anyone. Maybe she was just some curious, fantastical little girl, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is still one of the most influential characters in the world.
As soon as I saw this necklace, I instantly thought of Pocahontas. She’s one of my favorite (and in my opinion, one of the most important) princesses in history. I know the necklace isn’t an exact replica of the one she wears in the Disney version of her life, but to me, it strongly resembles it. If Pocahontas were done in high-fashion, this necklace, I feel, would hang on her copper collar-bone.
congrats christinadear! the necklace is all yours. just want to say thank you, the stuff everybody came up with was amazing. i was such a nerd when i got this piece and basically thought the exact same thing. another giveaway is coming in early january and then another one after that so fear not! hooray for christinadear.tumblr.com!
