anna karenina is heralded as one of the greatest novels of all time, if not the greatest. tolstoy has often referred to it as his first novel and it has garnered acclaim from across the globe. set in late 19th century russia, anna wanders the world of russian aristocrats, is tormented by love triangles, jealousy, politics and the social repercussions of her choices. despite her troubles, anna was recognized as beautiful, in fashion and enchanting. in the end, she threw herself in front of a train…but if she didn’t, i bet she’d look something like this in the now.
