HOLDEN CAULFIELD
Good Monday morning to you all. Holden Caulfield was the very first post I ever did on Textbook. Somewhere down the line it got added into my tag line and now it’s kind of a thing. I haven’t styled him since the original post on 9/1/09 so here we go again. For those of you who don’t have a solid idea of who Mr. Caulfield is, I encourage you to read The Catcher in the Rye and get...

TRAVELING HOME
I’m hopping a train home to NYC in a little bit. It will be a long and boring ride, please ask me some questions to keep me sane? Please?

MEET THE HILFIGERS
Tommy Hilfiger’s “Meet the Hilfigers” campaign. I believe they may have met the Spades before… old kate spade new york campaign. For those that asked, that is Matthew Gray Gubler in the ad. Not that the idea of a family campaign is entirely original, but I couldn’t shake the resemblance here. I’d rather meet up with the Spades any day of the week, which do...

A little off topic, but a dreamy image nonetheless. Prepare for some kate spade spam and perhaps some commentary on Tommy Hilfiger’s latest foray in marketing.

THESE ARE MY BOOTS
These are my boots. I wear them every single day when it’s chilly. They have holes in the soles, must get that fixed. They are Rachel Comey boots and she makes a damn good boot. See for yourself at her sweet ass website. Worth every penny…a re-sole and they’ll be good for years.

LET ME BORROW THAT TOP
Was hanging out uptown yesterday and stopped by Ferragamo. As you might recall, this was one of my favorite collections from Fall 2010 and that sweater was one of my favorite pieces. It’s in the fifth avenue shop for a mere $1300.00 and is the softest most comfortable thing ever. I have $5.00 saved up so far.

THEODATE POPE RIDDLE
DISCLAIMER: Today is my mother’s birthday, so send good thoughts out to the world and reblog this like crazy so she feels special. This post was her suggestion. Most of you probably won’t know who Theodate Pope Riddle is, so let me enlighten you. She was one of the first women architects in America and paved the way for many women working in the field today. She graduated from Miss...

THE MEN OF TEXTBOOK
Ahoy! So, I’ve received a lot of messages and e-mails asking for me to start a menswear section of Textbook. As such, I will be posting more menswear looks from now on. Long time followers will remember that I used to do these often. For the new kids, you can see all men’s character posts HERE. You can see anything related to menswear including some old personal style shots, favorite...

FLEUR DELACOUR, HARRY POTTER WEEK
I am so frightfully tired this morning and I have no idea why. I need to get it together because tonight is the most important night of my life thus far, the premiere of Deathly Hallows. Today, let’s take a look at quarter Veela Fleur Delacour. We’re first presented with the Beauxbatons student in The Goblet of Fire but she comes back strong towards the end of the series after...

BELLATRIX LESTRANGE, HARRY POTTER WEEK
Continuing the trend of Harry Potter Week, let’s re-examine Bellatrix Lestrange. She’s probably my favorite character in the books and who can deny the genius behind Helena Bonham Carter’s portrayal in the films? Sure, she’s a killer and sure she’s mad but aren’t the mad ones always the BEST ones? Can’t wait to see how HBC turns it out in Deathly Hallows....

PROFESSOR TRELAWNY, HARRY POTTER WEEK
Good Tuesday morning to you all. I hope you’re enjoying your week thus far as we continue to celebrate the fast approaching release of Deathly Hallows. Good god, I was in the seventh grade when the first book came out and now at nearly 25, I can’t contain my excitement. Yesterday, I received quite a few requests for Professor Trelawny…so, like…here she is. Professor...

HERMIONE GRANGER, HARRY POTTER WEEK
As you well know, I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books & films. With the impending release of Deathly Hallows, I’ve decided to dedicate this week to our favorite Harry Potter characters. Many of them have made appearances before, including my all time favorite post, Luna Lovegood. Today, I tried my hand at Hermione Granger. Hermione was exceedingly difficult because the runways of...

ROSALIND, THIS SIDE OF PARADISE
Thank you all for the many suggestions, keep ‘em coming! Today I bring you Rosalind Connage, the second love of Amory from This Side of Paradise. She’s a New York City debutante, and sadly I know quite a few girls just like her. They’re born rich and will do anything to stay rich, despite the consequences. Rosalind eventually broke off her love affair with Amory because he...

GALADRIEL, LORD OF THE RINGS
If you follow my tweets, you’ll know that I have a mild obsession with Lord of the Rings…just when you thought I was cool. Anyway, I took a stab at Galadriel the queen of Lothlorien. She’s been around Middle Earth forever and was given one of the original rings way back in the day. She wasn’t a major character in the story but she was certainly a wise one. Anyway, elves...

QUEEN ELIZABETH THE BAMF
You see this? You see this right here? This is Queen Elizabeth I. She was pretty much the most badass monarch to grace England…right up there with Eleanor of Aquitane and Queen Vicky (Victoria and I were on a nickname basis.) I’m sure you all know her well from your high school history classes and various wikipedia adventures so I won’t get into it. But let’s just say if...

JOAN OF ARC
Ahoy mateys! So, as Textbook is now almost a year and half old, I seem to be running out of ideas. Luckily, the seasons of fashion change giving me new ways to experiment. Having said that, I’d like to revisit Joan of Arc. Our heroine is responsible for bringing a nation together in a time of great crisis and unrest. As fate would have it, political turmoil and intrigue put Joan to a...

LANVIN LOVES H&M
So, yesterday I had the opportunity to check out the Lanvin <3 H&M collection. Honestly, we’ve all seen these collabs before and you can never be too sure if it’s going to be a success. Oftentimes a designer’s DNA is restricted when working with any mass retailer and you don’t get a true representation. I don’t think anybody could say that about...

CARE PACKAGE FROM THREADLESS
A couple weeks ago I got a package from Threadless. I’ve been a fan of Threadless for some time, they basically give anybody the chance to have their design produced on a t-shirt. Users upload designs, the community votes and the winners get a chunk of cash and bragging rights. They recently launched a line called “Threadless Select” that are community designs produced on higher...
